"Kubyertos" at The Collective

One Friday night after office, my hubby and I decided to try KUBYERTOS,
a restaurant at The Collective where the famous Flip Top Battles are often held.  At least, that's what I used to assume.  But that night was a Rakista Radio Night, and the hubby said Creed was playing "One" in the open area when we got there. Of course, Creed weren't really there, but it was so loud you'd thought they were...Live in Malugay! Ha-ha-ha!

So, going back to Kubyertos...It's a Tagalog word derived from Spanish which basically means fork and spoon.

Their main dish are mostly rice bowl types, and they also offer a wide range of booze.  But we weren't there to drink and get drunk, and so we only ordered the ff:

Ah!dobo
I don't really know what the 'Ah!' is for, whether it's an expression of surprise, discovery or delight, but I do know that I enjoyed this bowl :)  Kubyertos really did give this Filipino favorite something for everyone to 'Ah!' about. :)

Salpicao ni Juan
With the way the hubby chowed on it with such focus,  I say this Filipinized Spanish bowl should be re-named Salpicao ni Nelson. Ha-ha-ha!

SisigTri
When we tried this one, the hubby would later tell me that he half-expected this item to be served in 3's. Well, it was not. Sizzling sisig in crunchy wraps with vinegar dip - yep, he sure was glad that there were more than enough pieces for us to enjoy.  Whether it's a beer match pulutan or a stand-alone side dish, SisigTri is a "must-tri" for newcomers.:)

The Beverage - They don't serve bottomless iced tea, so we ordered a pitcher.
But what struck us most was...

...this interesting Kubyertos detail: A stirrer with an end-to-end spoon and fork combo.

In this photo, my hubby said it looked as if we borrowed the trident of Neptune, Roman god of the sea.

I was like, "whatever".
Joke lang :)

The Dessert - The food satisfied our hunger but the dessert for us was awesome! We were supposed to order Choc-Nut Krema for dessert but it was out of stock so we took their suggestion of trying Saba't Kubyertos. :)

Saba't Kubyertos - Angle 1

Saba't Kubyertos - Angle 2
Maybe it's the vanilla ice cream.  Maybe it's the bananas. Or maybe it's the combination of both.  But whatever it is, this dessert is almost perfect! It leaves that delectable butter-y and caramel-y richness in the mouth. And it would surely make you want for more.
